Dr. Lingam’s laws of happy and healthy eating (Part 1)

Five thousand years ago, people in India developed a health care system called Ayurveda where food is considered medicine for healing, building immunity, and for detoxifying. They even recommended what type of food you have to eat for your mind and body based on taste and your body constitution or Dosha (body type). What ancient Ayurveda knew way back then has now been proved by modern science and medicine – noting that each taste of food secretes the right enzymes. Although salt has been used for preservation of food, it was never intended to be used as it is today, with all food and drinks prepared with lots of salt and sugar. Nobody knew about sugar until the British colonial era, when the British made sugar from sugar cane in the Caribbean and only aristocrats and rich people could afford to buy it. There was even a war between the French and the British because of sugar. So, all the marketing of sugar started during the colonial era and people soon got addicted to its sweet taste. Today, most food and beverage companies continue to add ridiculous quantities of sugar and salt to their products to improve their flavor.

The salt and sweet in your food are contributing to obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and inflammation – even cancer. Furthermore, fast food chains have made their offerings tasty and supersized drinks have become part of America’s diet, especially in the case of children. Most of the fast food chains may be introducing healthier food, but people continue to prefer fast foods for their flavor. This is why, today, the average American is overweight and obesity has become an epidemic.

Also, these foods produce toxins from the hormones, steroids, and antibiotics present in the meat and pesticides from fruits and vegetables as well as environmental toxins which accumulate in the body. These toxins cause inflammation of your tissues and organs and have a detrimental effect on the immune system’s performance. Most of the diseases Americans are experiencing today are caused by inflammation and a depressed immune system which is unable to fight infections, leading to autoimmune diseases such as psoriasis, Inflammatory Bowel disease, Celiac disease, Addison’s disease, Hypothyroidism, type 1 diabetes, vitiligo, and rheumatoid arthritis. The health of the nation depends on what you eat. “You are what you eat”. I have combined ancient wisdom with modern living to give you my Laws of Happy and Healthy Eating. I have been lecturing and helping people and living my life on my Laws of Happy and healthy eating.
